When Bruce Kirby sketched a high-performance, car-top friendly dinghy on a napkin in 1969, he didn’t suspect that his “Weekender” would become the world’s most successful One Design class, that it would be inducted into the American Sailboat Hall of Fame, or that it would morph into two highly competitive Olympic classes. But now, almost 50 years later, Kirby’s boats are globally ubiquitous.

Lasers are available in three sail sizes, allowing the same hull, foils and basic spar package to accommodate juniors to adults. Even today, there's no finer dinghy for mastering the subtleties of helming, trimming, and body positioning.
